Floyid Nicolas received a Ph.D. in Biological System Engineering at UC Davis in Dr. Isaya Kisekka’s lab. He received his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from the Université d’Etat d’Haiti. He earned a master’s degree in Agricultural and Biological Engineering at the University of Florida under the guidance of Dr. Kati W. Migliaccio. During his master’s degree, he worked on assessing the impacts of climate change on rice yield and potential adaptation strategies for rice production under the changing climate in Haiti. His current research projects focus on salinity and nitrate management to improve the sustainability of irrigated agriculture and groundwater quality in the Valley. His research interests include crop modeling, agrohydrological modeling, remote sensing and GIS, evapotranspiration, and groundwater sustainability.
